Studio Spotlight – Egyptian Red

You know that color; you know it so well you can spot it across a football field. Ever wonder why we love it so much? Once Nicole and Elizabeth found our little home on West Causeway Approach, they knew it had to a feature color that welcomed every person that walked in the doors. At the time, the studio walls were a faded blue that were so sad they were almost grey. Even though the lighting and painting was gloomy, Nicole and Elizabeth could close their eyes and sense the vibrance of the energy in these four walls. They set out a way to ensure that we felt what they felt at that very moment… home.
Home almost sounds trite at this point, but there’s no other word to capture the characteristics of what happens within these walls. First, we feel supported not only by the practice, but the voices and faces within. Then, we feel empowered by the words and the poses that we use when we cross the threshold. Most importantly, we feel a sense of belonging when we open the door, slip off our shoes, and see the first set of eyes that we meet. Thus, they decided upon Egyptain Red, a rich orange, which in feng shui is often called the “social” color, as it creates energy to promote lively conversations and good times. We don’t know about y’all, but we think it might be working.
