MAY EVENTS

Happy May! Is it really summer break for the kids? Is it that time already??  Feels like we just got through the “back to school craziness” not that long ago! Seriously, where does the time go? We had such a great April within our community– another challenge was completed (congratulations again Erin on winning those Jazz Fest tickets!), we had a great time at our annual crawfish boil, our BY 100 class was filled with amazing energy, our book club meeting had such great conversations, and not to mention, the daily practices that take place within the studio.

With all of that, we can’t help but get excited at the thought of what May has in store for our community. Will we defend our title for a 3rd consecutive year at the Crawfish and Roses event? Where will our creativity take us with our Paint Your Practice workshop? How many of our students will try something new and experience a SUP class for the first time? Every month while we plan these events, our desire for our students to grow, explore and step out of their comfort zones is at the forefront of it all.  In Buddha’s Brain, (book of the month!!!), Rick Hanson addresses the pursuit of happiness we are all too aware of.

“The answer to the question of how to grow good things inside your mind is this: Take in experiences of them. This will weave them into your brain, building up their neural circuits, so you can take them with you wherever you go. By taking just a few extra seconds to stay with a positive experience—even the comfort in a single breath—you’ll help turn a passing mental state into lasting neural structure.”

Our hope for this month is to be offer you opportunities to have some wonderful experiences with us, to learn to recognize them when they occur, be it on or off your mat, and to take them with you wherever you go.

“Do all that you can, with all that you have, in the time that you have, in the place where you are.” We’re so darn lucky to be a part of your journey in your pursuit of happiness.
