2016: The Year of Power Yoga
The New Year will be here before you know it. When that big mirrored ball drops in Times Square, we’re sure you’ll have some hopes and dreams for 2016. Bayou Yoga is here to help with a calendar designed to help you reach your goals!
All too often, we hear things like: “I’m going to get fit this year;” “My New Year’s resolution is to lose weight;” “I need to relax- yoga sounds like something I would like to try;” or our personal favorite, “I’m going to do something I love this year, and I’m going to stick with it- I promise!” Why not actually make these hopes a reality? In order to make the hopes and dreams a reality, you need a concrete roadmap of just how you’re going to get there. We’re here to help you!
First, ask yourself NOW (before the hectic schedules of the holidays suck whatever energy you have left out of you)– How important is your health to you and to those you love?
Second, ask yourself NOW– what do you need to do to improve your health? What are your current strengths? What are your weaknesses?
For those of who are diligent about incorporating physical exercise and activity into your lifestyle, you’re not off the hook! Ask yourself what can you do to ensure that you don’t fall off track; to prevent injuries; or supplement your current fitness regime?
Next, ask yourself NOW– what do you want to see and how do you want feel as a result of your attention to improving your health this coming year? Are you hoping to experience any of the following:
increased energy, weight loss, improved mental clarity, practical stress relief, more flexibility, improved self-worth, muscle toning and definition, positive self- growth, better sleep, increased stamina and endurance, healthier cardiovascular function, and/or stronger skeletal and muscular systems to protect you from injuries?
NOW, if you answered yes, to any of the foregoing, then, please ask yourself one more thing: what is stopping you from achieving these health goals?
Here’s how we at Bayou Yoga can help you achieve your health goals in 2015:
Yoga 101: a 6 week introductory course into the world of Power-Vinyasa yoga. Learn what makes this practice of yoga different from the others and experience the benefits of the mind-body connection that comes from learning the basic power yoga poses and vinyasa sequences. After this course, you’ll have set the foundation for your Power Yoga practice to flourish.
Yoga 102: a 4 week transition course designed to pick up the pace and bring body awareness as you become more familiar with various vinyasa sequences. It also gives you additional time to fine tune the skills you learned form our Yoga 101 class.
Mind-Body Wellness Coaching: a 12 week commitment to “Nourish Your Body and Empower Your Being.” We meet on a weekly basis for 1.5 hours. During that time, you’ll be introduced to a take-home yoga practice and a nutrition discussion based in ancient Ayurvedic principles that responds to your unique body type.
Monthly workshops: these weekend courses are your opportunity to explore certain aspects of your daily practice with greater attention.
Yoga Under the Stars: our first Yoga Retreat! And it will be nearby! Date and location to be determined, and the planning of the subject matter is well underway. This is going to be fun y’all!!!
We’ve also got some fun challenges planned throughout the year to keep you committed to your 2016 health goals. And remember, healthy families help each other, which is why we will also be offering a family workshop as well as children’s classes for students, including the littlest of yogis!
